LIGHT UP THE NIGHT
COMMUNITY RIDE &

Looking for free bike lights and a night of cycling fun? SC Bike Party, Bike Santa Cruz County, and Current E-bikes invite you to the 5th annual Light Up the Night community ride, a bike light giveaway, and well-lit community ride on Friday, November 9th at Current eBikes (131 Front Street).
6:00 - 7:00 pm - Free Lights, Illuminated Activities, & Raffle
7:00 - 8:30 pm - Community Ride, with brilliant prizes!*
We will give out 100 free lights on a first-come, first-served basis, so plan to arrive early.
Let’s get illuminated!
In addition to giving out lights, we are offering a number of activities to make it easy and fun to be visible and safe on your bike at night and during the darker winter months! From 6pm to 7pm, activities will include high viz bike decorating, including making reflective spoke cards, custom helmet stenciling, and a raffle with visibility-related prizes.
The community ride will depart promptly at 7pm and arrive back at Current eBikes by 8:30pm. Cyclists of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Bike flair and costumes encourages - *brilliant PRIZES will be awarded for brightest bike, brightest rider, kid’s costume, and most creative get-up. To crank things up a notch, SC Bike Party will provide the tunes, with their on-bike sound systems.

City Council Candidate Questionnaire
Bike Santa Cruz County promotes bicycling through advocacy, education, and community building. To allow our membership and the bicycling community at large to make informed decisions in the November election, we distributed a questionnaire to each City Council Candidate.
The Bike Santa Cruz County Board of Directors is not making candidate endorsements this year, but will publish the answers to the questionnaire to thousands of Bike Santa Cruz County members on our online “In the Lane” newsletter, our Facebook page, and our website.

Make a difference in the lives of local youth with Bike Santa Cruz County's Earn-a-Bike program! Do you or someone you know love working on bikes? Want to help stoke out the next generation of riders? We are looking for a part-time program assistant and bike mechanic to support our Live Oak Earn-a-Bike program.
THE CITY OF SANTA CRUZ CONSIDERS VISION ZERO
On Monday, July 16th, the Santa Cruz Transportation and Public Works Commission considered adopting a Vision Zero policy for the City of Santa Cruz. The Commission formed an Ad-Hoc Subcommittee that will work over the next 6 months to formulate a recommendation to City Council to adopt a Vision Zero Policy with specific outcomes and goals. We expect the Santa Cruz City Council to take action in December 2018 and we need your help!
